GPs at Bronte Family Doctors can provide ongoing ADHD management and continuation prescribing for patients with an established ADHD diagnosis, working collaboratively with your psychiatrist or paediatrician where appropriate. Our approach focuses on safe, evidence-based care rather than simply renewing prescriptions.
30-45 MINUTE APPOINTMENT
This includes review of your ADHD diagnosis and specialist reports, prescribing history, mental health assessment, clinical examination including weight, blood pressure and heart rate, review of current medications and side effects, and ordering investigations or obtaining further information if required. Please arrange for specialist letters and relevant documentation to be forwarded before your appointment where possible.
Once your assessment is complete and all required information has been reviewed, a follow-up appointment is required to discuss your management plan and, where clinically appropriate, complete prescribing documentation and issue prescriptions. Continuation prescribing remains at the discretion of the treating GP and must comply with relevant prescribing requirements.
ADHD medication requires regular monitoring to ensure treatment remains safe and effective. Review appointments include assessment of symptom control and functioning, mental health review, monitoring of weight, blood pressure and heart rate, medication effectiveness and side effects, and completion of required prescribing documentation.
To ensure appropriate clinical assessment, ongoing ADHD prescribing appointments must be conducted in person and are not available via telehealth.
Book a long consultation to discuss your options, history, and questions.
Your GP will advise on timing, pain relief and any checks required before insertion.
You will be booked in for 30 minute appointment to allow for set up and recovery. The actual procedure itself typically takes around 5-10 minutes is performed in our clinic.
We recommend follow-up 4-6 weeks after insertion to confirm the IUD is correctly positioned.
