Childhood Development Checks

Children develop at their own pace, but regular developmental checks are a valuable opportunity to make sure things are progressing well and to pick up any concerns early.

At Bronte Family Doctors, we offer developmental checks from infancy through the preschool and early school years, as part of your child’s ongoing care.

What if there are concerns?

Parents know their children best. If you’ve noticed something about your child’s development, behaviour or communication that doesn’t feel quite right, it’s worth discussing, even if you’re not sure whether it’s significant.

Your GP can assess your child over time and, where appropriate, arrange further assessment or referral to services such as a paediatrician, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, psychologist or audiologist.

Supporting your child as they grow

Developmental care isn’t just about identifying problems. These appointments are also an opportunity to talk about sleep, behaviour, nutrition, learning, parenting concerns and preparing for daycare, preschool or school.

For a comprehensive developmental review, we recommend booking a long appointment to allow plenty of time to talk through your child’s development and any concerns you may have.
