30-45 MINUTE APPOINTMENT

Your consultation may include

  • Review of your current health conditions
  • Weight history and previous weight loss attempts
  • Nutrition and eating patterns
  • Physical activity
  • Sleep and stress
  • Medications that may contribute to weight gain
  • Hormonal factors, including perimenopause and menopause
  • Assessment of cardiovascular and metabolic health

Travel vaccinations

The vaccinations you need will depend on where you’re travelling, how long you’re staying and what you’ll be doing. We can review your routine vaccinations and advise whether additional vaccines are recommended, such as:

  • Hepatitis A and B
  • Typhoid
  • Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis
  • Polio
  • Influenza and COVID-19
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Rabies

Some vaccination courses require several doses, so where possible, book your travel consultation 6–8 weeks before departure. Even if you’re leaving sooner, it’s still worth checking in.

Travel advice and medications

Your appointment is also an opportunity to discuss practical ways to stay well while travelling. Depending on your destination, we can advise on malaria prevention, mosquito-borne illnesses, traveller’s diarrhoea, food and water safety, altitude sickness and other destination-specific risks.

We can also arrange appropriate prescriptions, including malaria prevention, medications for traveller’s diarrhoea or other medicines you may need while away.

Before you travel

Bring your itinerary and any available vaccination records to your appointment. For more complex trips or travel involving several countries, please book a longer consultation so we have enough time to go through everything properly.

A travel health appointment isn’t just about vaccines. It’s about making sure you’re prepared for your particular trip so you can spend more time enjoying it and less time worrying about your health.

Please note

Travel vaccines: We do not currently stock travel vaccines at the practice. If a vaccine is recommended, we can provide a prescription for you to purchase it from a pharmacy and bring it back to the practice for administration.

Yellow fever: Bronte Family Doctors is not currently an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. If you require a yellow fever vaccination or certificate, this will need to be arranged through an accredited provider.
