About Us

Welcome to Bronte Family Doctors.

We’re a small, private GP practice in the heart of Bronte, and we’re genuinely glad you’re here. Our goal is simple — to be the kind of practice where you feel known, heard, and well looked after. Whether you’re here for something routine or something that’s been on your mind for a while, we’ll take the time to get it right.

Everything you need to know before your visit

Book online

Booking online is the quickest and easiest way to make an appointment with one of our doctors.

Choose a time that suits you and select the appointment type that best matches your healthcare needs. Online bookings are available 24 hours a day for both new and existing patients.

MyMedicare

If Bronte Family Doctors is your regular practice, we encourage you to register with us through MyMedicare.

MyMedicare is a free Australian Government initiative that strengthens your relationship with your regular GP and practice. It also supports access to selected Medicare-funded services and helps us provide more coordinated, continuous care.

Test results & notifications

Every pathology and imaging result is carefully reviewed by your doctor. In most cases, you’ll receive a secure HotDoc notification advising whether any follow-up is required.
If you develop new or ongoing symptoms, we recommend booking an appointment regardless of your result notification. Test results reflect a point in time and should always be considered alongside your symptoms and clinical assessment.

Appointments, changes & cancellations

We understand that plans can change.

If you’re unable to attend your appointment, we ask that you provide at least 3 hours’ notice for GP appointments wherever possible, so we can offer the appointment to another patient.

Appointments can be managed online through HotDoc or by contacting our reception team.

Prescriptions & referrals

Repeat prescriptions and specialist referrals may be available for existing patients where clinically appropriate.

Requests are reviewed by your usual GP and may require an appointment to ensure your treatment remains safe, appropriate and up to date.

Choosing the right appointment

Selecting the right appointment type helps ensure your doctor has enough time to address your concerns.

Whether you’re booking for a skin check, mental health, menopause care, childhood immunisations or a routine consultation, choosing the appropriate appointment gives us time to provide the highest quality care, and helps us run on time.

If you’re unsure which appointment to book, our reception team is always happy to help.

Telehealth

Telehealth appointments are available for eligible patients, offering a convenient way to speak with your GP when an in-person visit isn’t required.

To receive a Medicare rebate, you generally need to have attended the practice in person within the previous 12 months, in accordance with current Medicare requirements.

Urgent appointments

We understand that unexpected illnesses and urgent medical concerns can arise.

Where possible, we reserve appointments each day for patients requiring prompt medical attention. If you feel you need to be seen urgently, please contact our reception team and we’ll do our best to arrange a timely appointment.

Our Policies

Depending on your doctor’s recommendations, we may communicate your results by:

  • SMS
  • HotDoc secure message
  • Telephone call
  • Requesting that you book an appointment to discuss your results and any recommended next steps.

Please book an appointment if:

  • Your SMS advises that follow-up is required
  • You would like to discuss your results in more detail
  • Your symptoms are ongoing or worsening
  • You have concerns about your health

Why an appointment is often needed

A number on a pathology or imaging report rarely tells the full story. Even results that are reported as “normal” or “abnormal” need to be interpreted in the context of your individual health, including:

  • Your symptoms
  • Your medical history
  • Your current medications
  • Your individual risk factors
  • The reason the test was requested

Your doctor combines all of this information to determine whether any further investigation, treatment or reassurance is appropriate.

Appointments are important for:

  • Understanding what your results mean specifically for you
  • Reviewing any ongoing symptoms or concerns
  • Planning treatment or next steps
  • Interpreting multiple or complex results
  • Ensuring nothing important is overlooked

As this is a clinical consultation requiring your doctor’s time, expertise and medical judgement, standard consultation fees apply. Your doctor will explain your results in the context of your overall health and work with you to decide on any next steps.

Occasionally, your doctor may discuss test results or ongoing care by telephone.

Where this constitutes a clinical consultation, standard consultation fees may apply, including Medicare bulk billing where appropriate and you are eligible.

If a Medicare bulk-billed telephone consultation is provided, you may receive an email or SMS requesting confirmation of Assignment of Benefit consent.

Important information

While we have systems in place to review and manage test results, healthcare is a shared responsibility.

If your symptoms persist, your condition worsens, or you believe you have not received expected follow-up, please contact the practice.

Please do not assume that no news is good news if you remain unwell.
