Women's Health & Menopause
May has a particular passion for helping women navigate every stage of their reproductive health, from pregnancy planning through to perimenopause and menopause. She enjoys working with women who are planning a pregnancy, helping optimise their health before conception through preconception counselling, medication reviews, lifestyle advice and recommended screening. She also supports individuals and couples navigating fertility concerns, providing initial assessment, investigation and referral to fertility specialists when appropriate. As a member of the Australasian Menopause Society, May has a special interest in perimenopause, menopause and menopausal hormone therapy (MHT). She understands that symptoms such as poor sleep, anxiety, brain fog, weight changes, hot flushes and fatigue can have a significant impact on quality of life, and enjoys helping women understand their options through personalised, evidence-based care.

May has extensive experience in long-acting reversible contraception and enjoys helping patients choose the contraceptive option that best suits their health, lifestyle and future family plans.

She is accredited to insert and remove Mirena, Kyleena and Copper IUDs, as well as Implanon, and provides comprehensive contraceptive counselling for women of all ages. Whether you’re considering your first IUD, changing contraception, managing heavy periods, or looking for contraception during perimenopause, May takes the time to explain your options and tailor recommendations to your individual needs.

May enjoys caring for women before, during and after pregnancy.

She provides preconception counselling, helping optimise health before pregnancy through lifestyle advice, medication reviews, recommended supplements and appropriate screening. She also assists with the initial assessment of fertility concerns and works collaboratively with fertility specialists where further investigation or treatment is required.

As an accredited GP in the Royal Hospital for Women Antenatal Shared Care Program, May provides antenatal shared care, allowing women to receive much of their pregnancy care close to home while remaining closely connected with their hospital obstetric team. She values building long-term relationships with families and feels privileged to support patients from preconception through pregnancy and into parenthood.

May believes mental health is just as important as physical health and enjoys building long-term therapeutic relationships with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout and other mental health concerns.

She provides Mental Health Care Plans and works collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to support patients throughout their mental health journey.

May also provides ongoing ADHD management and continuation prescribing for children and adults with an established diagnosis, working closely with each patient’s psychiatrist or paediatrician to ensure safe, evidence-based care and regular monitoring.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, making prevention and early detection especially important.

May has advanced training in Skin Cancer Medicine and holds a Fellowship in Skin Cancer Medicine through the Integrated Specialist Healthcare Centre (ISHC). She performs comprehensive skin checks, dermatoscopic assessment of suspicious lesions, skin biopsies, skin cancer surgery, cyst removal and other minor procedures.

She is also completing a Certificate in Primary Care Dermatology, allowing her to continue expanding her expertise in diagnosing and managing a broad range of skin conditions.

Having completed advanced training at both Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women, May enjoys caring for children from infancy through adolescence.

She holds a Diploma in Child Health (University of Sydney) and a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG).

May has additional training in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (Possums) and enjoys supporting parents through feeding, infant sleep, unsettled babies and early childhood development. As a mother of three herself, she understands the joys and challenges of raising a family and strives to provide practical, compassionate advice that fits into everyday life.

One of May’s greatest passions is helping patients stay healthy, rather than simply treating illness once it occurs.

She enjoys partnering with patients to optimise their long-term health through preventative screening, chronic disease management, healthy lifestyle changes and personalised healthcare planning. Whether you’re attending for a routine health check, managing a chronic medical condition or navigating a new diagnosis, May believes healthcare should be collaborative, thoughtful and tailored to each individual’s goals.

Alongside her clinical work, May is committed to supporting the next generation of GPs and advancing high-quality general practice.

She is:

  • GP Representative on the Royal Hospital for Women Antenatal Shared Care Committee
  • Accredited GP Registrar Supervisor
  • RACGP Examiner

May is passionate about lifelong learning and regularly undertakes continuing professional development to ensure her patients receive up-to-date, evidence-based care.

Outside of medicine, May is a busy mum of three who understands the realities of balancing work, parenting and family life. She enjoys running, tennis and yoga whenever she can find the time.

As the owner of Bronte Family Doctors, May is passionate about creating a modern general practice where patients feel genuinely listened to, appointments are never unnecessarily rushed, and healthcare is centred around long-term relationships, evidence-based medicine and continuity of care. She believes that taking the time to understand each patient’s story leads to better health outcomes and a more rewarding experience for both patients and doctors.
